Down The Fence

Producer, Director, Co-writer

Down The Fence is about the people, horses, history, and culture of California, vaquero-style horsemanship.

I’m so proud of this project, especially because of all of the people that pulled together to make it happen. An entire community of horse people backed the film, donated their time and their stories, and gave us endless support. Working with the equestrian community and the most talented crew I could have hoped for was the experience of a lifetime.

Being a first-time, feature-length filmmaker was challenging—figuring out the technical process and trusting myself in the creative process. When I began the project, I’d hoped to find someone who worked in film that would give me some pointers.

I got lucky and was incredibly fortunate to have these four people volunteer their time: Ken Wannberg, Ted Levine, Lyle Lovett, and my sister, Christine Isakson (unlike me, she actually went to film school). They were all so encouraging and generous with their knowledge.

As for the crazy-creative crew I got to work with, I recommend them all! If you have a project and need some talent, contact me about any of them. I’ll tell you how I know they’re amazing. You can learn more about them on DownTheFenceMovie.com
